Sustainability
Sustainability is at the heart of the Academy community, with each dwelling being designed as a responsible, future-proofed home. MAB is committed to delivering Academy to a 5 Star Green Star standard, a certification that will be provided by Australia’s leading Green Star authority, the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA), on completion.
Set up to operate carbon neutral, the homes at Academy will benefit from rooftop solar panels, allowing for onsite renewable electricity generation. Fully electric in operation, each home can operate 100% energy emission-free when paired with a green power electricity plan.
Efficient design
The homes at Academy will be some of Melbourne’s most energy-efficient, benefitting from rooftop solar, double glazing, passive solar design, LED lighting and electric heat pump hot water systems. Rooftop rainwater harvesting will also reduce the reliance on drinking (potable) water and all homes feature taps, toilets and a dishwasher with a minimum five-star WELS rating.
About Green Star
Launched by the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) in 2003, Green Star tools guide and measure the sustainability of individual buildings, entire communities and the places in between. Green Star is the largest, most comprehensive system of its kind in Australia.
When a home receives Green Star As-Built certification, it is peace of mind that it’s a healthier place to live and work, that it’s more energy and water efficient and cost-effective to run, and will, in turn, see a higher return on investment.
